The Boston Printmakers Semiquincentennial Exhibition

Exhibition dates: September 13 – November 8, 2026

Exhibition Overview
The Boston Printmakers invites members to participate in “Perspectives: America at 250” a members-only exhibition commemorating the United States’ Semiquincentennial in 2026. This non-juried exhibition will showcase prints by our membership that engage with the 250th anniversary of American independence, with particular attention to historical significance and contemporary identity.

Do You Hear the People Sing, 2025, woodblock print by William Evertson “The Army Chorus chose an unusual number to entertain at the White House Governor’s Ball. Do You Hear the People Sing from Les Misérables symbolizes the heart of all protests and represents people who believe their voices are silenced.”

Exhibition Purpose
As we approach this milestone in our nation’s history, this exhibition creates a platform for Boston Printmakers’ members to contribute to the regional and national conversation through their artistic practice. New England’s pivotal role in American independence makes our region’s perspective especially significant for this commemoration. Printmaking, with its democratic traditions of accessibility and multiplicity, offers a resonant medium through which to examine, celebrate, and critically engage with American history and identity.

This exhibition aims to:
– Present diverse artistic perspectives from our membership on American history and contemporary society
– Showcase the technical excellence and creative vision of The Boston Printmakers
– Create a visual record for our members to interpret this historic moment
– Foster dialogue about our collective past, present, and future as a nation
