Article by Chris Bergeron from the Metrowest Daily News
In conjunction with The Boston Printmakers 2011 North American Biennial. Juried by the Executive Board of The Boston Printmakers, this year's show includes nearly two hundred student works from twenty New England colleges and art schools. For many of these students, this is their first opportunity to professionally exhibit their work. It is also a unique opportunity for the New England art public to see the broad scope of printmaking produced at these fine art schools.
Arches Paper of Canson Paper, Inc. is once again very pleased to sponsor the Arches Student Print Exhibition. Arches Paper has granted jury prizes of printmaking paper to six student artists in the Exhibition, as well as a gift of Arches paper to each of the participating schools. In addition, Arches will be awarding one student purchase award. This year, Gamblin Artists Colors Co. has also awarded six jury prizes and sent Gamblin etching and relief inks to the twenty schools. There are three juried cash awards granted by The Boston Printmakers, as well as jurors' commendations.
It is fitting that Arches Paper, which has been providing fine printing papers for generations of printmakers, generously sponsors this exhibition of student work. Arches and Rives printmaking papers are made in France at the Arches paper mill founded in 1492. These papers are chosen by printmakers for their beauty and archival longevity.
